The plot to
blow up a downtown Dallas skyscraper has struck fear in the minds of so many
across Dallas.
That includes the
thousands of employees who work at Fountain Place - the target of the proposed
attack.
Surprised and uneasy are just two words to sum up the emotions of many
workers at the building on Friday.
Even though the threat may be gone, the arrest of Hosam
Maher Husein Smadi has been
a wake-up call for some companies.
Fountain Place was on high security a day after authorities revealed it was
the target of a bomb plot.
"It's really hard to express the way you feel... finding out you could
have been blown up," said Vanessa Kimmons, an
employee.
Smadi was arrested Thursday after officials said
he placed what he believed to be a car bomb in a parking garage, near 1445 Ross
Avenue in downtown Dallas.
Gaedeke Group which operates nine office buildings in Dallas is now ramping
up its security, adding cameras and building awareness for any tenants, who
maybe thought something like this couldn't happen here.
"It's close to home. You always think it's somewhere else... We are a
prominent building. We have prominent buildings in Dallas and across the U.S.,
so we could have just as easily have been that target," said Kristin Schor
from Gaedeke Group.
Dallas police had a visible presence at Fountain Place on Friday.
