TLC to move into Fitzhugh Central
March 17, 2009
Dallas Business Journal
Structural engineering firm TLC Engineering for Architecture will be moving into 9,700 square feet of second-floor space in the Fitzhugh Central building operated by Dallas-based real estate firm Gaedeke Group.
TLC’s lease is for 10 years. The company is expected to move in this May.
Located at 4131 N. Central Expwy., the Gaedeke Group says the location fits within TLC’s goals of finding space that is environmentally friendly.
“Sustainability is interwoven in everything we do at TLC,” said TLC division director John Piazza. “More than 30 percent of our professional staff are LEED-accredited, nine of our offices are carbon neutral, and our design/commissioning portfolio includes 22 LEED-certified buildings and more than 100 LEED-registered buildings,” he said.
TLC will be occupying space that includes daylight-sensitive light fixtures and construction materials created by 30-percent recycled content. In addition, the company says the carpet, paint and adhesives used in the space will be low in volatile organic compounds. The composite wood materials also have no added urea formaldehyde.
Gaedeke Group says it met TLC’s goal of sending 75 percent of its demolition and construction waste into the recycling process rather than shipping it off to a landfill. About 30 percent of the materials purchased for the project were bought within 500 miles of the office.
